Rump Steak and Onions
Ingredients:
1 kg Rump Steak
4 onions, sliced
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon Flour
Water
1 – 2 Beef stock cubes
Butter for frying
Method:
Fry the sliced onions, on a medium heat until soft and golden.
Keep to the side of the frypan, turn up the heat and fry the rump steak on both sides (cook steak according to personal taste).
Remove the steak from frypan and place on a platter and keep warm.
Bring the onions back into the centre of the frypan and mix with any of the juices from the steak.
Add the flour and brown.
Add water and stock cubes, plus any juices left on platter from cooked steak.
Add salt and pepper to taste. Bring to the boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat, return steak and any juices to the pan and heat through.
Serve steak, with mashed potatoes, onion gravy and peas.
You can use gravox mixed with water instead of the flour, water and stock cube.
